The choice is totally your own. If you like the look of the tags, you don’t have to use all four lines on both front and back — engrave what you need and leave the rest blank. If you like the charms, and can fit all the critical details for your particular health situation on the charm, that’s just fine.

We’ll be happy to work with you to find the right option for your unique needs.

How do I choose the right size bracelet?

That’s easy. Start by measuring your wrist with a soft tape measure and add one inch (1″) to your wrist size for the bracelet length.

Child, 8 – 12 Years … 6.75 inches

Adult – Petite 7 inches

Adult – Small… 7.25 inches

How do I know what to put on my medical ID?

Typically your medical alert jewelry will have a tag or charm that contains some very specific information about you and your medical situation. Consider your own situation carefully, and talk with your doctor or other healthcare professional to review what you might want to include. Remember, this piece serves as a brief description of your most vital medical facts.

At the very least your tag should have your name, emergency contact information (phone number), and the medical condition, allergy or medications you are taking. (remember, space is limited, so summarize your information with short descriptive words). Any information that cannot go on your medical ID bracelets or necklaces can be written on a wallet or purse ID card. List only the medicines you wish to be engraved such as prescription medicine taken on a long term or daily basis (i.e. blood thinners, anticonvulsants for epilepsy). This will give medical personnel better guidance on how to initiate treatment and will lessen the chance of a drug interaction.

We advise you to engrave you name on the Medical ID. At least a first name is recommended. Patients with Alzheimer’s should engrave their name and address or contact information of a friend or family member in addition.

How much can I engrave on medical alert tags and charms? This varies according to the tag or charm you select. The small women’s tag measures 7/16” by 1 7/16” and you can engrave up to 4 lines on the front, 13 characters per line. On the back, you can engrave up to 4 lines with 19 characters per line. All of our bracelets are shown with a high polish stainless steel tag unless otherwise indicated. There is an additional charge if you want to substitute a sterling silver, gold-filled or solid gold tag.Why is medical alert jewelry so critical?
